Sharon’s Top 10 Well Being Tips

1. Have a good swear! Research has shown that swearing reduces stress and increases tolerance of pain! “F%$£ that S&%7”

2. Give more hugs Communicate love, warmth, kindness, respect and reassurance – you will naturally receive the same in return

3. Have an occasional duvet day Turn off the work emails, turn your mobile to silent…then relax, watch some rubbish tv, have a soak in the bath and just rest your body and mind. Oh…and eat biscuits.

4. Learn something new Broadening your knowledge and challenging yourself can only be a good thing….and who knows where it may take you!

5. Talk! BT had it right with their slogan “it’s good to talk”. Think of the old saying “a problem shared is a problem halved”. Bottling things up is never a good idea so get it off your chest with someone you trust.

6. Be yourself Stop saying yes when you really mean no, laugh out loud at the cinema, wear your favourite yellow shoes with your pink and blue trousers and sing your heart out to your favourite songs (loudly)

7. Take off your judgy pants Remember that we never really know the whole story so how can we ever be in a position to judge? Try to remember that others aren’t better or worse than you, just different.

8. Have a spring clean Freshen up your wardrobe, update your photographs, send some stuff to the charity shop and unclutter your home/office/mind! If you clean out your kitchen cupboards you may just find a surprise packet of chocolate hobnobs for your duvet day!

9. Own your truth Be prepared to stand by your own values and beliefs assertively but without bulldozing others. Your thoughts and opinions are as valid as anyone else’s.

10. Say it………. Don’t think or know it without saying it – don’t be hurtful though, be kind. Tell people how you feel and let them know what they mean to you. “I love you”, “I miss you” or even “I want you”!
